Established in 1959, IB Construction is one of the UK’s leading principal contractors, combining the latest building techniques and expert project management with attention to detail and outstanding customer care.
This approach has seen us deliver more than 1700 projects on time and to budget, covering high profile developments for the community and for clients involved in commercial, education, healthcare, industry, leisure and special heritage projects.
Our portfolio encompasses everything from small renovations and interior fit-outs to refurbishments and large scale design and build contracts for some of the UK’s most exciting pub estates…all carried out by our construction experts and an experienced supply chain that shares our passion for high standards.
Each client receives a dedicated Contracts Manager that will oversee the complete project, offering a single point of contact for all enquiries.
This, along with our commitment to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, ensures peace of mind that the contract will be completed above expectation, on schedule and within the agreed budget.
We are also determined to achieve zero waste, reusing materials and minimising the carbon footprint of our supply chain activities whenever possible.
IB Construction was established in 1959 to offer clients the supply and erection of pre-fabricated buildings.
What originally started off as a West Midlands business quickly grew into a nationwide operation and our expertise began to stretch into taking on more general construction, refurbishment and design and build projects.
The same principles of attention to detail, passion and customer service that helped us grow in the early days are still evident in the IB Construction of 2017, proud to be a considerate contractor that employs over 100 people on up to 30 different projects accross the UK every year.
Family is also still very much part of the fabric of what we do. The current MD Peter Lewis, who has been with the business since 1968, has been joined by his son Tim and many of the workforce have been here for more than 35 years.
Yes, we deliver on time and to budget, a pre-requisite of any good construction firm. However, it is the care and commitment only an independent family-run business can take in turning your vision into a fully functioning reality that makes us different to the rest.
SECTORS of EXCELLENCE
IB Construction has developed an enviable reputation for delivering high quality projects for pub estates, community centres, churches and heritage projects.
This is just a small snapshot of what we do. Over the last two years, we have completed contracts across ten different sectors, on jobs small and large, technically demanding, BREEAM Excellent rated and those requiring our special attention to detail to bring them back to life.
New Build Pubs
We have a proven track record of delivering new build pubs for Greene King, Marstons and Toby Carvery.
This involves working quickly to extremely tight deadlines, often taking just 22 weeks from start of the project to the first pint being pulled.
Typically, this will mean an integrated approach to delivering both the building and the internal fit-out, a cost effective solution that means the customer is only ever dealing with one point of contact.
Delicately taking Grade I and Grade II listed buildings and bringing them back to meaningful life is something we are very proud of at IB Construction.
We have an expert team of craftsmen who understand traditional construction techniques, such as replacing rooves, trusses and propping internal loadings whilst work is completed.
This paves the way for us to create modern pubs that retain the character of their surroundings, making them stand out from the crowd.
Some recent examples of our work, include Brunning and Price’s The Oakley at Brewood and The Inn at Shipley.
When it comes to fit-outs, we can offer a complete project management service or take care of a specific element of work, such as toilets, bar improvement or kitchen. A lot of the time we will be working in live environments and all of our staff will be trained to ensure work is completed without any inconvenience to the customer.
Similar to new build pubs, projects are all completed to a strict timescale.
IB has worked on a wide range of healthcare projects across the West Midlands, including dementia centres, care homes and walk-in centres.
Construction has to be carried out sensitively and all our staff will be inducted and fully trained on how to behave when working on site so they respect their surroundings and the needs of other individuals around them.
We are also experts in understanding the need for incorporating healthcare specified materials, such as special doors, hinges and anti-ligature curtains.
Churches and Community Centre
This area requires flexible methods of construction as you could be working on a new build church and community centre or refurbishing a Grade II listed building.
The focus is always on creating the best possible use of space so that as many parts of society can use the facilities for leisure, educational or spiritual purposes.
A lot of our skills are transferrable across many local authority projects and this has seen us recently secure a number of educational contracts.
These are often completed during a live school/college environment and need to be finished within set timeframes and under stringent budget controls.
Commercial and Industrial
One of our fastest growing sectors is commercial and industrial, working on building and refurbishment projects to deliver offices, retail units and warehousing for clients across the UK.
We are able to offer some design services or am happy to work with existing architects to carry out small, medium or large scale projects that require the latest sustainable building techniques and features.
A member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, IB Construction is committed to making a difference to the communities it operates in.
Our CSR strategy focuses strongly on using our skills and expertise to support charities, schools and local community projects to complete transformation projects, as well as developing the next generation of construction professionals.
The latter has seen us invest in a steady stream of apprentices and these young people have gone on to become an important part of our business and positive role models to their peers.
Each year, we also appoint a chosen IB Charity and all of our staff are encouraged to take part in fundraising to support this organisation. In 2017, we are proud to be raising money for Tommy’s – funding research, saving babies’ lives.
